Brian Henry | Silver gelatin and Polaroid prints

Exhibition opening reception with the artist, Wednesday, May 1st, 6pm - 9pm

Employing traditional and experimental printing techniques, Brian Henry makes individually unique silver gelatin prints in his darkroom. With his deep fascination for process and pushing the boundaries of photographic emulsion, Henry’s passion for experimentation is borne from attempts to accurately portray atmosphere as he sees it, often imposed with a phantasmal self through multiple and long exposures. Some of Henry’s alternative processes speak to the layers of decay within the abandoned spaces he often shoots.  Others images are printed on expired photographic paper found left behind within these buildings. Invoking nostalgia and mystery, Henry’s images reflect the beauty of vulnerability while questioning existence and mortality. That they resonate with a sense of timelessness as they ponder impermanence makes them all the more compelling.
